SWITZERLAND. Bern. Stadt and Kanton. Pattern 4 Ducats (Silver, 34 mm, 7.67 g, 12 h), struck in silver, no date (circa 1700). Upright bear with cornucopiae and coat of arms, surrounded by a circle with the 14 guild coats of arms of Bern. Rev. Man and woman shake hands above an altar inscribed BENEDIC / TVS•SIT / IEHOVA / DEUS; above, radiant sun with a laurel wreath. Divo/Tobler -. Richter (Proben) 1-172 var. (17.27 g). SM 570 var. (9.26 g). Wunderly 1348 var. (15.8 g). Extremely rare and beautifully toned. Minor areas of weakness and tiny marks, otherwise, virtually as struck.
